A young man who had previously been subjected to enforced disappearance was shot dead in broad daylight in Turbat on Monday, local sources report.

The shooting occurred near the Park Hotel at approximately 11:00 AM. According to police, the victim has been identified as Adeel, son of Master Iqbal, a resident of the Absar area of Turbat, a city of Balochistan’s Kech district.

Eyewitnesses said unidentified armed assailants opened fire on the young man before fleeing the scene. Adeel had reportedly been missing for an extended period due to an alleged enforced disappearance but had recently reappeared.

This incident is not the first of its kind in Balochistan. Human rights groups and Baloch nationalist organisations have documented multiple cases in which individuals who were forcibly disappeared and later released were subsequently killed, often in targeted attacks.

Activists and rights advocates have long accused state institutions of involvement in such incidents, labelling them part of a broader campaign of repression against Baloch political dissent. They argue that the cycle of enforced disappearances followed by extrajudicial killings constitutes a form of collective punishment and systemic targeting of Baloch youth.

There has been no official statement from the authorities regarding Adeel’s killing at the time of reporting.
