“Pro-independence” Baloch nationalist armed groups, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), have claimed responsibility for a series of recent attacks targeting Pakistani military personnel, intelligence operatives, and infrastructure across several districts of Balochistan. The incidents, which took place in Kech, Khuzdar, Panjgur, and Mand, reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least six Pakistani security personnel and the execution of two individuals accused of collaborating with intelligence agencies.
BLA Claims Responsibility for Attacks in Hoshab and Kolwah, Execution in Zehri
In a statement released to the media, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said that BLA fighters targeted a Pakistani military camp at Goandsarin in the Hoshab area of Kech on June 16. The camp, established to secure a section of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), came under attack with automatic and heavy weapons. According to the BLA, at least one soldier was killed and several others wounded.
On the same day, a separate operation was carried out in Kolwah, where BLA fighters used a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) to target a military vehicle near the Bal area. The vehicle was reportedly destroyed and four soldiers were killed in the blast.
The BLA also reported that one of its units apprehended an individual identified as Khizar in Zehri, Khuzdar. The group stated that Khizar was working as an informant for Pakistan’s Military Intelligence (MI) and had been operating in several parts of Balochistan under disguise. According to the BLA, during interrogation, the individual confessed to being assigned by MI officers in Karachi, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gwadar, and Quetta. The group said he was tried by a “Baloch National Court” and subsequently executed.
BLF Claims Attacks in Khuzdar, Wadh, Mand, and Panjgur
The Balochistan Liberation Front also issued statements claiming responsibility for multiple operations. On June 15, BLF fighters reportedly carried out a hand grenade attack on the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Office in Khuzdar, which the group said resulted in casualties and material damage.
Two days later, on the night of June 17, a truck transporting precious stones from Dalbandin to Karachi was attacked near Habib Hotel in Wadh. According to BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch, the truck’s engine and tires were damaged. He added that such actions target economic activities that the group considers exploitative.
In another operation, BLF fighters reportedly attacked a Pakistani military post in the Mahir area of Mand at approximately 8:30 PM on June 16. The group said that rocket launchers and other heavy weapons were used in the assault, which led to the death of one soldier and injuries to two others. The fighters reportedly withdrew without casualties.
On June 18, the BLF reported that its fighters conducted an operation in the Isa Sind-e-Sar area of Panjgur, resulting in the killing of a man identified as Naeem, son of Sufi Jalal. The group alleged that he was a member of a “state-sponsored death squad” and had been involved in the 2020 killing of senior BLF commander Major Noora, also known as Peerak. According to the statement, the operation followed intelligence gathered by the group’s internal network. BLF fighters reportedly seized a government-issued rifle and other items from the individual before withdrawing.
Both groups reiterated that their actions are part of a broader campaign for Balochistan’s independence and resistance against what they describe as the military and economic domination of the region. The BLA and BLF stated that their operations are aimed at countering military presence and opposing development projects like CPEC, which they view as exploitative and detrimental to local interests.
No official statement has yet been released by Pakistani military or government authorities regarding these incidents.
