At least five Pakistani soldiers have been killed and thirteen others injured in a series of coordinated attacks across different areas of Balochistan, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) said in a statement on Sunday.
The group’s spokesperson, Jeeyand Baloch, said the attacks took place on Saturday night, targeting Pakistani military positions in Turbat, Tump, and Panjgur districts.
The most intense attack took place in Panjgur’s Saradok area, where BLA fighters reportedly attacked a major army camp from two directions.
“Freedom fighters fired twenty rounds using rocket launchers at enemy positions, while other heavy and automatic weapons were also used,” Mr Baloch said.
He added that the fighting lasted more than half an hour, resulting in three Pakistani soldiers killed and at least four others wounded.
The group also claimed that the army suffered “heavy property losses” during the Saradok attack.
In another attack in Panjgur, BLA fighters blocked a main highway in the Washbud area. According to the statement, the blockade lasted two hours, during which BLA fighters conducted “snap checking” of vehicles.
Meanwhile, in Turbat city, BLA fighters attacked Pakistani soldiers at a checkpoint on Airport Road. Mr Baloch said that “one Pakistani soldier was eliminated on the spot,” while two others were injured.
Another attack in Turbat targeted an army post at Taleemi Chowk. The BLA said its fighters used a hand grenade, resulting in “casualties” among the soldiers.
In a third attack in Turbat, BLA fighters targeted another army post in the Gehbun area, firing multiple rounds from a grenade launcher. Mr Baloch said that “at least four enemy army personnel were wounded” in this attack.
In Kech district’s Tump area, two additional attacks were also carried out.
In Heerabad, BLA fighters fired several grenade launcher rounds at a Pakistani army post, reportedly causing casualties and property losses. Another attack in Meerabad, Tump, saw BLA fighters again using grenade launchers against an army post.
According to Mr Baloch, “one enemy army personnel was eliminated and at least three others wounded” in the attack.
The Baloch Liberation Army said it accepts responsibility for all seven attacks and vowed to continue operations until “the complete withdrawal of the occupying Pakistani army from Balochistan.”
