A series of armed attacks have been reported in Balochistan’s Gwadar and Tump. BLA claims responsibility for Tum attack.

According to reports, in the coastal city of Gwadar, unidentified armed men attacked a police and customs checkpoint near Coastal Highway Zero Point on Wednesday. The attackers seized weapons, including pistols and submachine guns (SMGs), as well as official vehicles belonging to the Coastal Highway Police and Customs officials, before fleeing the scene. Security forces have since cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to apprehend the attackers.

This attack in Gwadar follows a pattern of similar incidents across Balochistan. Earlier this month, armed groups targeted security forces in Kachhi, Panjgur, and Turbat areas of Balochistan, confiscating weapons in these attacks. While Baloch nationalist armed groups have claimed responsibility for the incidents in Turbat and Kachhi, no group has yet claimed responsibility for the Gwadar or Panjgur attacks.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, another incident occurred in the Kech district of Balochistan, where an armoured vehicle belonging to Pakistani security forces was targeted in a bomb blast. The attack took place in the Tump area near Nizarabad, where explosives had been planted along the route of the military convoy. Local sources report that the blast inflicted damage on the vehicle and left two personnel injured.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the Tump attack. In a statement released by its spokesperson, Jeeyand Baloch, the group confirmed that their fighters carried out the remote-controlled IED attack, resulting in damage to the vehicle and injuries to “enemy” forces. The BLA reaffirmed its commitment to continue its armed struggle against Pakistani forces in Balochistan.

These incidents underscore the rising frequency of attacks targeting security forces in the region, as tensions continue to escalate between the Pakistan state and Baloch nationalist armed groups.
