Protests against enforced disappearances continued in Balochistan on Wednesday, with a rally held in Nokundi as part of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee’s (BYC) “Breaking the Silence: Standing Against Enforced Disappearances” campaign.

A large number of residents, including women and children, joined the demonstration organized by BYC’s Chagai Zone. The rally began at Shaheed Hameed Chowk and proceeded through Nokundi Bazaar.

Participants held photographs of missing persons, calling for their immediate recovery, and staged a sit-in to voice their demands.

In a statement on X, the BYC said the protest aimed to highlight “oppression, genocide, and systemic violence” targeting the Baloch people. The BYC said that its campaign seeks to raise awareness and mobilize the Baloch against enforced disappearances.

The BYC’s “Breaking the Silence” protests have also been held in Karachi, Hub Chowki, Khuzdar, Turbat, Panjgur, Kharan, Quetta, Nushki, Dalbandin, and Chagai.

The movement draws attention to what the BYC describes as a rising number of enforced disappearances, particularly of Baloch students in Balochistan and Karachi, allegedly by the Frontier Corps and the Counter-Terrorism Department.
