Two members of a local ‘peace militia’, allegedly backed by state forces, were killed and five others injured during an exchange of fire with armed assailants near the border of Barkhan and Dera Bugti districts in Balochistan on Sunday.
Khan Muhammad Masoori Bugti, a cousin of Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, said the confrontation began when armed individuals destroyed a mobile tower belonging to a private company in the border area.
After receiving information about the attackers, the local ‘peace militia’ pursued the group. During the pursuit, the assailants opened fire, resulting in the deaths of two militia members and injuries to five others.
The injured personnel were airlifted by helicopter to Rakni Hospital, according to District Health Officer Dr. Azam Bugti.
As of the latest updates, the exchange of fire was still ongoing.
