Sammi Deen Baloch, a human rights activist and daughter of the forcibly disappeared Dr. Deen Mohammad Baloch, appeared in the Sindh High Court on Monday for a hearing related to her travel ban. The court had previously issued notices to the Ministry of Defense, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and other officials, instructing them to present their responses regarding her travel ban. However, during the latest hearing, no representatives from these authorities appeared. The court has scheduled the next hearing for the following week.

Speaking to the media outside the court, Sammi Deen Baloch expressed her disappointment with the situation, highlighting what she perceives as a pattern of “disregard” for legal processes. She noted that the failure of officials to comply with court orders reflects a broader issue of impunity. “This shows that institutions not only disregard the courts but also the law and Constitution,” she said.

Baloch also questioned the reasons for the travel restrictions placed on her. “The state has yet to explain on what grounds I am being banned from traveling. I am a peaceful political activist, and I will continue my efforts for justice,” she stated.

Earlier this month, Sammi Deen Baloch was stopped by FIA officials at Karachi Airport while attempting to travel to Oman. She reported being held at the airport for several hours before being informed that a travel ban had been imposed by the Balochistan government.

The travel ban has drawn criticism from international human rights organizations, as well as members of the European Parliament, who have called for its removal and urged Pakistan to stop the harassment of activists.
