A sudden fire broke out late at night on Sunday, at the Science College in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, causing extensive damage to the building. The blaze engulfed a significant portion of the college, leaving much of the structure in ruins.
According to local residents, the fire started near the main entrance and quickly spread to a large area of the college. The fire brigade’s delayed response allowed the flames to intensify, resulting in the destruction of a major part of the building.
The college administration confirmed that the main corridor and the Vice Principal’s office were completely destroyed in the fire. Several classrooms used by intermediate students were also damaged, along with the administration offices.
The administration further stated that furniture and other items worth millions of rupees were reduced to ashes. The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
Meanwhile, the central spokesperson of the Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) stated that the sudden destruction of Quetta Science College by fire is a significant educational tragedy.
The spokesperson expressed confusion and concern over how such a large educational institution could suddenly catch fire and burn for hours without any intervention from government agencies. They emphasized that this building was not just a structure but a beacon of knowledge for the people of Balochistan, where future leaders are nurtured to enlighten society.
