The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has announced plans to organize a significant event, the Baloch Raji Muchi (Baloch National Gathering), scheduled for July this year. This gathering aims to raise awareness and protest against what the group describes as the systematic genocide of the Baloch people.
In a passionate statement, BYC emphasized the dire situation facing the Baloch community: “With so much dying and denial around us, we still choose to march—for our survival, for our existence, for our national dignity. We march to avoid disappearing, even as, in a single day, we receive news of more than seven Baloch individuals being forcibly disappeared. We witness helpless families in the scorching heat of summer and the coldest hours of winter, sitting on roads and protesting. We see them being dragged and beaten by the authorities, threatened not to protest. We see lifeless Baloch bodies, victims of fake encounters, discarded without dignity. We see state-backed death squads targeting the innocent Baloch, creating fear and uncertainty.”
The group highlighted several critical issues driving their protest, including the harassment and killing of Baloch drivers, the imposition of curfews, fencing, militarization, and extensive military operations across Balochistan. They also pointed to the adverse impacts of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), particularly the fencing of Gwadar, which they claim has led to the local population being caged to protect Chinese interests.
“We choose to march for many reasons: the state is committing systematic genocide against the Baloch people, and we will not remain silent,” BYC declared.
A campaign, using the hashtag #MarchAgainstBalochGenocide, has been launched to garner support and spread the word. Details regarding the time, date, and location of the gathering will be announced soon.
The BYC calls on all supporters to join their gathering and stand in solidarity with the Baloch people in their struggle for justice and dignity.
