Balochistan is currently experiencing a significant cold wave, accompanied by significant snowfall affecting various districts across the region. This change in weather, influenced by westerly winds, is disrupting normal life and activities.
In Qilla Saifullah, continuous rainfall has been reported, while Kan Mehtarzai and Kanchoghi are experiencing a steep decline in temperatures due to the ongoing snowfall. Similar conditions prevail in Ghbargei, Rod Malazai, and Ziarat, where snowfall has led to a noticeable drop in temperature.
The Meteorological Department has forecasted continued rain and snow on the mountains across several key districts, including Quetta, Kalat, Chaman, and Ziarat. This weather pattern, while providing relief from dry conditions, is also creating challenges with colder temperatures and potential transportation disruptions.
Temperature readings have notably dipped in various areas, with Ziarat recording a low of minus 3 degrees Celsius, followed by Kalat at minus 2 and Quetta at minus 1 degree Celsius. In contrast, coastal areas such as Gwadar and Jiwani are experiencing warmer temperatures, ranging from 13 to 14 degrees Celsius.
The weather department anticipates the cold wave will persist for at least the next 24 hours, especially impacting the northern districts of Balochistan. Residents are being advised to prepare for the cold and anticipate possible travel disruptions due to the snowfall.
