At least five Pakistani troops, including an SSG Major Rank officer, have been killed and four others injured in a lethal attack by unidentified individuals in the Zhob area of Balochistan on Monday.
According to reports, five Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group (SSG) personnel, including a major, were killed and four others, including a Caption, were injured in an attack on the Pakistani army in Sambaza, area of Zhob district this morning.
Major Ali Raza, of the 1st Commando Battalion “Yaldram”, Special Service Group (SSG), Pakistan Army, and Havaldar Rao Nasir were among five killed in the attack, while the injured have been identified as Captain Noman, Sepoy Yasir, and Sepoy Imran.
The condition of Captain Noman and Sepoy Yasir is said to be critical.
In a media statement, the Pakistan Army’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Sambaza, Zhob District, on the reported presence of “terrorists” on the night of 8/9 October. In addition, the ISPR claimed that the exchange of fire took place in which two Pakistani soldiers, including an SSG major rank officer and five “terrorists”, were killed. However, the ISPR didn’t reveal the identities of the killed militants.
Meanwhile, The Pakistani Taliban also known as TTP in a media statement took responsibility for the attack.
In the statement, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Mohammad Khurasani denied the casualties among the TTP fighters and said that all its fighters returned safely after conducting the operation.
