The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that Cyclone ‘Biparjoy’, after a change in course, now threatens Balochistan’s coast. The storm, moving north and northeast, may approach the Makran coast.
Given the storm system’s unpredictable patterns, the Meteorological Department anticipates the storm may intensify. They have advised fishermen to refrain from venturing into the open sea from June 12 onwards as the storm continues its course through the Arabian Sea.
Officials from the Meteorological Department caution that, should the storm approach, coastal regions could experience high waves, strong winds, and heavy rainfall. They expect the coastal areas of Sindh and Makran to be hit hardest, with the most severe weather predicted for June 13 and 14.
The Meteorological Department states that they are gathering information from six international sources to accurately track and forecast the cyclone’s path. Given these developments, the Provincial Disaster Management has been notified to prioritize the safety of residents in the coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan.
