The Baloch Students Organization Azad (BSO-Azad) released the highlights of the 23rd Central Council Session.
BSO-Azad announced in the media that it wrapped up its 23rd Central Council session, a three-day event held in memory of Banuk Karima Baloch and the martyrs of Freedom. Drapshan Baloch was elected as the new Chairman, while Zirwan Baloch was named Secretary-General. The new leadership aims to bolster Baloch youth involvement in the national movement and provide BSO-Azad cadres with revolutionary training to address contemporary challenges, it said.
The session opened with a tribute to Banuk Karima Baloch and the martyrs of Freedom. Delegates tackled key agenda items, including constitutional-making, organizational matters, global and regional political situations, and future strategies. On the second day, attendees debated organizational matters and political scenarios. The third day focused on finalizing a two-year organizational program and the election commission’s selection process, led by former Secretary-General Mehr Zad Baloch. The oath-taking ceremony saw former Chairman Abram Baloch administering oaths to the newly elected members and councilors.
Challenges and Future Direction
As per reports, newly-elected Chairman Drapshan Baloch acknowledged challenges faced by BSO-Azad, “such as enemy oppression and internal difficulties.” He praised the organization’s resilience in overcoming these challenges without compromising its dedication to the national cause, central democracy, organizational autonomy, and freedom. He emphasized that adhering to these principles is vital for the organization’s success and continued role as an active institution.
Looking forward, Drapshan Baloch called for the BSO-Azad to further organize the participation of Baloch youth in the national movement and provide revolutionary training to its cadres to meet modern demands. He also urged the organization to work more at the organizational level to advance the Baloch National Movement.
National Liberation Struggle in the 21st Century
Chairman Drapshan Baloch discussed the challenges of fighting for national liberation in the 21st century against a state backed by imperial powers like the US and China. He noted the contemporary geopolitical landscape’s shift to a unipolar capitalist system, which favors strong, organized, capable, and powerful nations. In light of this, he stressed the need for the Baloch movement to acquire modern capabilities that can dismantle the existing state structure and create an alternative Baloch state structure.
Drapshan Baloch also emphasized the need to move beyond superficial thoughts and emotions and study the process of building a state on solid foundations. He urged Baloch youth to embrace the movement with intellect and abilities, rather than just emotions, and actively participate in it. He underlined that the national movement could only reach a logical conclusion through organized institutions, modern scientific capabilities, and skills.
The Role of Baloch Youth
Baloch youth are considered critical in bringing about social and revolutionary changes. The Chairman urged them not to sell their talents for personal gain to parliamentary parties, tribal leaders, or government agents. Instead, they should put their talents to use, considering the national and territorial realities. In his address, he acknowledged that dreaming of a life of freedom, like that in the West, after being associated with a war-torn and enslaved nation like Baloch, is akin to dwelling in a fool’s paradise. Considering the needs of the Baloch national movement, Baloch youth should determine their own future, he said. Baloch youth should be dedicated to raising awareness about the importance and necessity of the movement among the people and youth of Balochistan and be prepared to make any sacrifices needed for implementing the organization’s two-year program in an organized and active manner, the chairman said.
Drapshan further said: “The occupying state has tried to subdue Baloch youth for the past seventy years through violence, oppression, coercion, manipulation, and bribery, attempting to mislead the Baloch youth.” He added that “these efforts come not only from enemies but also from those Baloch who have betrayed the national ideology of Balochistan since day one”. “However, history will never forgive their criminal acts. It is crucial for Baloch youth, particularly the revolutionary cadres of the BSO-Azad to work relentlessly to raise awareness about the movement’s importance and necessity among the people and youth of Balochistan,” He said.
BSO-Azad Leaders Pledge to Pursue National Freedom
In closing, the 23rd Central Council session of BSO-Azad, commemorating “Lumma-E-Watan” (Mother of the Nation) Banuk Karima Baloch and “Shuhda-E-Aajoi” (Martyrs of Freedom) and in the name of Baloch captives, underscored the importance of national freedom and success for the future of the Baloch people.
The newly-elected leaders, Drapshan Baloch and Zirwan Baloch, urged participants to work with honesty, sincerity, and revolutionary fervor to address the challenges faced in nation-building. With countless homeless and distressed Baloch individuals depending on the organization, BSO-Azad leaders and members have committed to dedicating their energy to advancing the national movement’s goals, honoring the sacrifices made by the martyrs, and securing the success of the Baloch cause.
