Residents of Balochistan’s Kohlu district have accused Pakistan’s paramilitary force, the Frontier Corps (FC) officials of sexually abusing children in a school.
According to reports, the local population of Kohlu has expressed concerns about the well-being of their children, as they allege are being ‘sexually assaulted’ by FC personnel in the school on daily basis. The aforementioned school named FC Boys Public School and College was established by the Frontier Corps. The administrative officials in the institution are unable to take any action against the mighty forces’ personnel involved in harassment, the residents outcried.
Speaking to The Balochistan post, a resident of Kohlu on condition of anonymity, said that the children studying in the school built by the Pakistan army were facing sexual assaults on a daily basis. He said even the warden and the non-local teachers of the school are also involved in such unethical and immoral activities. “The students are also being physically exploited for labor works and they were threatened by the Fc personnel not to tell anybody or else they will be expelled from the school,” the concerned resident said.
He further said that the warden of the school was found guilty of assaulting children several times. When locals and relatives of the children reached out to the school administration to take action against him but the administration chose to ignore the issue.
Mentioning the corruption in the institution the resident told the TBP’s correspondent that the staff of the school administration received plenty of funds for school affairs but still big fees were demanded from the native students.
He recalled that due to the unavailability of educational institutions in the area, locals were compelled to send their children to the FC school but the continuous incidents of harassment of the children by the school staff and FC personnel had worried them as the administration was unable to take any serious action against the persons involved.
It is to be mentioned that this is not the first incident of FC officials being accused of such acts. Due to the deployment of the Frontier Corps troops in large numbers in parts of Balochistan to counter the ongoing liberation movement, they are often accused by the local people of social crimes. FC has been blamed for kidnapping innocent people for ransom, extortion, corruption, taking illegal taxes and bribes, and many more.
On various occasions, social and political activists across Balochistan have protested and called on the government to take notice of the FC crimes but their demands haven’t been heard. Despite frequent complaints throughout several years by the local population, the government has never established a body to investigate and act on such allegations leveled at law enforcement forces in Balochistan.
