A landmine explosion on Tuesday in the Sibi district of Balochistan has killed at least seven Pakistani Frontier Corps personnel and injured six others.
As per reports, Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were targeted in the Sangan area of Sibi. The personnel injured in the blast are stated to be in a critical condition. The security officials are yet to comment on the incident.
Meanwhile, a Baloch “pro-independence” armed group, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack. BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch claimed that the IED blast has resulted in killing 10 Pakistani soldiers and seriously injuring four others.
Two days earlier, two people on a tractor were also reportedly injured when a landmine exploded in the same area.
In the meantime, the Kalat district administration claimed to have defused a 5 kg landmine in Kalat’s Johan area. The official sources said that the mine was planted on a side of a link road, which has been defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad.
According to the bomb disposal squad, the bomb was a 5 kilogram heavy anti-tank mine, along with a detonator and a remote control device.
