Three of the students who went on hunger strike till death for their demands three days ago, are moved to the Quetta hospital due to their critical condition, on Tuesday.

The students of three medical colleges in Khuzdar, Loralai and Turbat districts of Balochistan have been protesting for at least 3 months against the Pakistan Medical Commission’s (PMC) decision of taking fresh tests for registrations. While a group of five students started a hunger strike till death three days ago.

A couple of months ago PMC announced a “special exam” for the registration of 600 students of the three medical colleges in Balochistan. However, the students are not in favour of taking this exam for the registration process. Students from these medical colleges have been studying for the last three to four years. Suddenly they are hit with the decision that they can not be regularised.

While speaking on this issue in a senate session on Monday, Senator Danesh Kumar of the ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) said that the PMC chief is least bothered about the issue of Balochistan’s medical students.

On Tuesday, Former Chief Minister of Balochistan, Nawab Aslam Raisani threatened in a statement to join the students protest if PMC fails to address the issue. As per sources, Raisani lashed out at the PMC saying it is depriving students from education.
