In a critical media statement on Friday, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), a rights group, lambasted the authorities for delaying justice to the slain Taj Bibi, an elderly woman who was allegedly shot dead in the Aapsar area of Kech by the Pakistani security forces. The committee called on the Baloch nation to stand beside Taj Bibi’s family at this crucial time.
BYC rejected the fabricated First Information Report where the authorities had filed an FIR against an “unknown person” in the Taj Bibi murder case, despite all the incriminating evidence against the security forces. BYC said that all these attempts at whitewashing the incident prove that the security forces are directly involved in the murder.
Baloch Yakjehti Committee said that Taj Bibi’s family is confronting the elements in power all on its own – they need our unanimous support because they are not the only victims of “state-sponsored tyranny”; entire Balochistan is suffering from it.
The BYC announced that it will hold a protest rally in Turbat on October 2nd to deliver justice to the slain Taj Bibi and her family. The protests will continue if the authorities turn a deaf ear to our demands, it said.
Taj Bibi’s murder allegedly at the hands of Pakistani security forces has sparked outrage across Balochistan. Activist and rights groups have condemned the “unlawful killing” of the elderly woman and demanded the authorities to bring the culprits to justice. Taj Bibi’s family has been active in the pursuit of justice but to no avail. Despite the substantial evidence pointing otherwise, the authorities have registered an FIR against “unknown persons” in the murder case.
