A young woman from Jhal Magsi in Balochistan has alleged that she was illegally detained by Pakistani parliamentarian Nawabzada Khalid Magsi for more than a year.
The woman identified as Khair-un-Nisa says she was abducted after her father tried to legally challenge the member of Pakistan National Assembly in courts against the encroachment of their farmland.
Nawabzada Khalid Magsi, alleged by Khair-un-Nisa as abductor, is a leader of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), the ruling party in Balochistan. Baloch political organisations blame BAP of being backed by Pakistani secretive agencies.
In a video circulated on the social media, Khair-un-Nisa, her sister and other women of the family can be seen protesting in front of national press club in Islamabad against Khalid Magsi.
Talking to media, Khair-un-Nisa has that their ancestral agricultural lands were illegally occupied by Khalid Magsi. “When my father took the case to the courts, Khalid Magsi attacked and injured my brother and father. He then forcefully abducted me and tortured me during detention for more than a year,” she said.
Khair-un-Nisa said that her father has also been nominated under a fake murder case. “My father was in Shadadkot Sindh when the murder happened, but he was still booked as the murderer by Khalid Magsi,” she alleged.
Khair-un-Nisa and her family are in capital city Islamabad since last four days and have been protesting against Khalid Magsi.
A social media campaign is also being run by activists using the hashtag #JusticeForKhairUlNisa demanding justice for the family.
