The government of Balochistan has taken notice of child labor in coal mines and banned children under the age of 15 from working in mines.
Chief Mines Inspector Balochistan, Shafqat Fayyaz has said that children below 15 years of age will not allowed to work in coal mines while even youngsters up to 17 years of age will not be able to work in mines without fitness certificate from doctors.
He said that a 17-year-old man would have to rest for 12 hours in 24 hours.
The Chief Mines Inspector further said that, besides the Inspector of Minerals Department, now the Social Welfare Department, Labor Department and Police will also inspect the coal mines and in case of violating the rules, Police will arrest the mine manager and contractor.
