Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has promised that his government would review China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) pact to address the reservations of Balochistan.
“Centre will work with Balochistan as a partner,” Khan said during his meeting with members of the Balochistan cabinet while on his one day visit of Quetta.
Mr. Khan said that Pakistan’s progress was linked with the development of Balochistan.
Khan’s statement comes at a time when attacks on security forces deployed for protection of CPEC have seen a spike.
CPEC, which has its major part of corridor passing through Balochistan, is facing stiff resistance by Baloch armed groups.
In August 2018, a suicide attacker targeted a bus carrying Chinese engineers in Dalbandeen killing three Chinese nationals. The responsibility for the attack was claimed by Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which said it will carry more such attacks.
