At least 13 persons were killed when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives at an election rally in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan on Tuesday.
Local officials said the incident took place in Kama district where a candidate, Nasir Mohmand, was hosting dozens of people to explain his plans.
“Elders were speaking at the meeting when suddenly there was a huge blast. I was knocked unconscious but when I opened my eyes there were bodies scattered all around the blast area,” an eye-witness told media.
Local authorities said the explosion was a suicide bomb blast, which left seven people dead and 30others wounded.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack at the time of filing this report, however, religious extremists including Taliban and Islamic state are active in the region.
