Two miners lost lives as a result of explosion in a coal mine in Dukki, Balochistan.
According to details received by TBP, the explosion occurred in the coal mine due to accumulation of poisonous gases. Two miners lost lives, whereas, two others were injured in the incident.
‘The deaths happened due to reduction of oxygen levels in the mine,’ the local administration told media.
The condition of injured miners is serious but not critical, hospital sources confirmed.
The deceased miners hailed from Zabul city in Afghanistan.
Earlier last month, at least 20 people died in different accidents in the mining sector in Balochistan, out of which 15 died in an explosion in Quetta’s Sanjidi area.
Six miners got trapped in a mine last month. Whereas, 2 mines collapsed and resulted in killing 23 miners in May this year in Bolan area of Balochistan.
Various international organisations working for worker rights have strongly condemned Pakistan for the complete absence of an effective occupational health and safety policy in the country, which has resulted in the deaths of a large number of workers in industries, particularly in coal mines.
