Two Baloch armed groups claimed attacks on electricity infrastructure and Pakistani military convoys in Balochistan, with one claiming four military personnel were killed in an ambush in Kachhi district on Thursday.
The Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) said on Friday that its fighters used explosives to destroy two towers on a main electricity transmission line in Sibi’s Katpar area the previous night. Two other towers were severely damaged, spokesperson Dostain Baloch said.
The BRG also claimed an attack on a Pakistani military convoy near Sanni in Kachhi at dusk on Thursday. Dostain Baloch said fighters hit one vehicle with heavy and automatic weapons, killing or wounding several personnel, but gave no figures.
Separately, the United Baloch Army (UBA) said its fighters attacked a three-vehicle military convoy at Sanni Chighardi in Kachhi at around 11:30am that day, claiming four personnel were killed and several others seriously wounded.
UBA spokesperson Mazar Baloch said the convoy was involved in a military operation in the area. Fighting continued for about 90 minutes, he said, adding that the fighters subsequently withdrew.
Both organisations seek an independent Balochistan and said they would continue their attacks.
