Pakistani forces came under attack in Mastung, Mashkel and Panjgur, while two electricity towers were destroyed in Dhadar and a police officer was abducted in Chagai, according to local sources and police.
Local sources said armed fighters ambushed a Pakistani forces convoy in the Galugah area of Mashkel on Friday, directly hitting two vehicles. Six personnel were reportedly killed or injured, although officials have yet to provide details about the attack.
Another attack targeted Pakistani forces at Shekari Bazaar in the Parom area of Panjgur on Saturday morning. A large number of Pakistani forces arrived in the area following the attack, but officials have not released details of any casualties.
Reports from Mastung said fighters attacked Pakistani forces in the Shernap area on Saturday, triggering prolonged exchanges of gunfire and explosions. Casualties were reported on both sides, but no figures were immediately available.
Meanwhile, unidentified armed men blew up two 132kV electricity towers in the jurisdiction of Dhadar’s Saddar Police Station in Kachhi, cutting power to Dhadar and much of the surrounding area. The towers carried electricity from the Sibi Grid Station.
Officials said police and Pakistani forces cordoned off the site and launched a search operation.
Separately, police said armed men abducted Assistant Sub-Inspector Gul Shah, the acting station house officer, from a bus terminal in Chagai.
According to police, Gul Shah was alone at the terminal when four armed men arrived in a vehicle, forced him inside and took him away.
Police said an investigation had been launched and efforts were underway to locate him, while Chagai’s senior superintendent of police said information was being gathered from several angles.
