The victim was identified as Meetha Khan, a CTD officer. The incident reportedly occurred near the Board Office on Sariab Road in the Samangli area of the city.
Sources said that Meetha Khan was on his way home when unidentified gunmen opened fire on him. The attackers reportedly fled the scene after the shooting. The officer died as a result of the injuries sustained in the attack.
No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the incident, and authorities have not yet released further details regarding the possible motive.
The Counter Terrorism Department operates across Balochistan and has previously faced allegations from political and civil society groups regarding its role in alleged extrajudicial killings and “fake encounters” involving missing persons. The department has not publicly responded to those accusations.
