A young girl died due to a lack of facilities in a hospital in the Kech district of Balochistan on Sunday.

According to reports, a student with a high fever was brought to the Teaching Hospital in the Turbat city of district Kech, where she was diagnosed with typhoid. However, due to ineffective treatment, she was being shifted to Karachi city for better treatment, but she died before reaching the destination.

It is pertinent to mention that the situation of the medical facilities is similar all over Balochistan. Mostly the patients are moved to Karachi since the hospitals in Balochistan lack basic medical equipment and doctors — where in most cases people die on the way.

Turbat is the second largest city in Balochistan but the health facilities in the city are equal to none. Patients with minor diseases such as malaria and typhoid are moved to Karachi for treatment. It doesn’t only cost a lot of money and time to patients but sometimes their lives too due to the long distance and dilapidated roads.

The land of Balochistan is rich in natural resources but the people always complain about being deprived of all the basic facilities of life. There aren’t many hospitals in Balochistan; if there are some, then medical facilities and equipment are negligible. The situation is similar with education, roads, water system, agriculture, and almost all fields of life.

It’s worth mentioning that several women lose their lives on a daily basis during giving birth due to not having access to basic healthcare.
