The Pakistani security forces reportedly opened fire on admirers who had gathered to commemorate the 119th birth anniversary of Sindhi nationalist leader GM Syed in his hometown, Jamshoro.
According to reports, admirers of Syed’s ideology and work gathered en masse to pay homage to his services. Hundreds of activists, workers, and leaders visited his grave, laid flowers on it, and prayed for his peaceful afterlife.
Sindhi nationalist circles also organized gatherings throughout Sindh to commemorate Syed’s birth anniversary and pay their respects to his work.
The Pakistani security forces reportedly opened fire on the protestors in Jamshoro, GM Syed’s hometown, to disperse the crowds. There are also reports of protestors clashing with the forces. The forces have also arrested dozens of protestors and put them in jail.
Several participants were wounded in the firing and the ensuing stampede. They were moved to the nearby hospital for treatment.
