A woman received injuries in a firing incident by security forces on Monday in the Tejaban area of district Kech — residents of the area blocked the CPEC route
A woman was injured when the Pakistani army reportedly opened indiscriminate firing in the area. In response to the incident, the residents of the area staged a sit-in protest and blocked the CPEC route.
According to local sources, last night armed men attacked the checkpost of the Pakistani army, after which the Pakistani forces opened fire on the residents of the area and mortar shells were also fired, due to which a woman was shot in the leg while several houses were damaged. However, no further casualties have been reported yet.
The residents of the area including women and children blocked the CPEC route since Monday morning in protest.
Meanwhile, on Monday a “pro-independence” armed group the Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the Tejaban attack.
It is pertinent to mention that, earlier in May this year, the residents of the area staged a protest on the highway and demanded the withdrawal of the army from the residential areas. The said protest was also held after mortar shells were fired at populated areas by the forces.
