Pakistan intelligence personnel were reportedly apprehended by the Taliban forces when they were plotting to attack the Baloch immigrants in Kandahar, the sources have said.

The prolonged war in Balochistan has forced thousands of Baloch families to leave their homelands and possessions behind and migrate to neighbouring countries, such as Iran or Afghanistan, in search of refuge. But the recent developments have shown that the safety they so desperately sought is still evading them.

Baloch refugees in Afghanistan have been targeted in numerous attacks over the years. Many were killed, and others had their houses and possession looted at gunpoint. Baloch and Pashtun nationalist circles argue that the Pakistani intelligence agencies are behind these attacks.

In a recent development, the Taliban forces apprehended two men who were reportedly plotting to attack and mug Baloch refugees in Afghanistan. The two men were allegedly working at the behest of the Pakistani intelligence agencies and identified themselves as Taliban before attacking the Baloch refugees.

Taliban officials confirmed the arrest in a media statement and said that the two detainees had confessed they were financed and tasked by Pakistani intelligence agencies for attacking Baloch migrants in Afghanistan. The arrestees also identified an official of the Pakistani embassy in Kabul who had provided the two men with the Baloch refugees’ home addresses.

It should be noted that a Baloch refugee was shot dead in front of his house in Afghanistan’s Nimruz a month ago.

The Taliban officials had also arrested a five-member group of Pakistani intelligence personnel from the Spin Boldak area. The group was reportedly trained and sent to Afghanistan to target Baloch refugees.
