The local women from Saindak area of Balochistan took to the streets and staged a sit-in protest next to the Police check post on the highway.

the protesters also blocked the traffic on the highway connecting the Saindak to Taftaan, the borders town with Iran. Saindak is home for one of the largest gold and copper mines, which is located in Chagai district of Balochistan.

The protests were held against a Chinese company working in Saindak. The protesters claim that the Chinese company working in the region has put restrictions on transportation, closed schools and shops in the name of Corona SOPs. The local male employees working in the company are not allowed to visit their homes for six to nine months.

The children also participated alongside women in the protest against the MDRL company. They said that the company has made the lives of local residents and employees miserable. They also chanted slogans against the company and Pakistani officials.

The sit-in participants blocked the highway for several hours. They later ended their protest on a request of a local tribal leader, Sardar Ata-ur-Rahman Musazai. Musazai promised the protesters that he will keep their demands before the officials of the Chinese company and assured the protesters that their demands will be fulfilled.

The female protesters said that the male employees working in the Chinese company are not allowed to visit home for six to nine months whereas, the local residents of Saindak are not even allowed to go to the Saindak hospital for treatment.

The protesters have demanded from the higher authorities to take notice of the extraordinary “restrictions and atrocities” of the Chinese company.
