Jamaat Islami leader Hidayat Ur Rehman Baloch accused the Frontier Corps of the rising instability and “terrorism” in Balochistan. He said that the FC camps have become safe havens for prominent felons and a warehouse for smuggled contraband.
Speaking at a rally in Panjgur, Hidayat Ur Rehman said that the FC – apparently stationed in Balochistan for the “protection” of the people – have established their businesses here. He said under duress from the security forces, local traders in Balochistan are shutting their businesses down and the forces are moving in to fill the vacuum left behind.
The Jamaat Islami leader said that we should adopt a peaceful struggle for our due rights. “They want us to go to the mountains, but that will not happen – we will stay here and hold them accountable”, he said.
He said that we will gather “hundreds of thousands” of people in Turbat to protest against the crackdown on the border and fish trade.
He said that the “foreigners” have laid their hands on our land and our honour – it is better to die once than to suffer every day. We will not be disgraced and if ever came to it, we will sacrifice our lives for it, he said.
