A woman in Quetta has accused police of shooting dead her son and another young man and demanded a murder case against the officers she holds responsible.
Bibi Sharaf Khatoon told a press conference at the Quetta Press Club that police personnel opened fire at a railway crossing on Sibi Road, killing Noorullah and Shafi Muhammad and seriously wounding a third man, Zaheer Ahmed.
“Police killed my son,” she said.
Khatoon called for a murder case against New Sariab Station House Officer (SHO) Sanaullah Sherani and other personnel allegedly involved, along with a transparent investigation into the shooting.
She alleged that police had registered a false first information report against the two slain men to portray them as thieves and robbers. Several applications she had submitted to the relevant police station had yielded no effective action, she added.
Khatoon appealed to Balochistan’s chief minister, home minister and senior police officials to intervene. She warned that she would set herself on fire outside the press club if denied justice.
