Sindhi political activist allegedly abducted by Pakistani forces from Karachi city.
According to Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh, a VMPS and human rights activist Shazia Chandio’s brother, Aqib Chandio has been abducted by Pakistani forces from Gulistan-e-Johar area of Karachi.
According to the statement, while arresting Aqib Chandio, Pakistani intelligence agencies have severely beaten his wife and sister.
It may be recalled that Aqib Chandio was forcibly disappeared from Larkana in 2018 and was recovered in 2019. While, last night, Aqib Chandio was abducted second time from Karachi.
Aqeeb Chandio’s sister Shazia Chandio had earlier been threatened by Pakistani intelligence officials that her brother would be disappeared if she did not give up her struggle for missing persons of Sindh.
As per the VMPS, the state operation is underway against the nationalist activists in different areas of Sindh for past few weeks, as a result more than 60 activists have been forcefully disappeared. While over the past some years, more than 50 nationalist activists across Sindh have already gone missing.
Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh strongly condemns the enforced disappearance of Aqib Chandio, and declares it as “military terrorism” by Pakistani agencies, and will protest for the recovery of all activists who have been forcibly disappeared from Sindh, the statement read.
