The death toll in a suicide blast at an educational centre in Kabul on Wednesday has reached 48, with another 67 wounded, the Afghan Health Ministry has confirmed.

According to the reports received by the Balochistan Post, at least 48 students have been killed and 67 others were injured when a suicide attacker blew himself in a suicide attack on an educational academy in Kabul.

According to the sources, most of the victims were 18 years of age and were taking classes for the university entrance exam, when the suicide attack happened.

It is pertinent to mention that the attack was carried out in a mainly Shia populated area.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, which came after several weeks of relative calm in Kabul.

Previously, attacks on Shia sect of Islam in Afghanistan have been claimed by the terrorist group Islamic State.
