The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) on Saturday condemned a reported drone strike that seriously injured two men in Mastung’s Khadkocha area, calling for independent investigations and accountability over attacks on civilian communities.

The strike occurred outside a house on October 9, the BYC said. It identified the injured as Javed Hammad, son of Sher Muhammad Shahwani, and Allah Bakhsh, son of Kabir Hammad.

The BYC said drone and fighter-jet attacks on civilian areas were a serious issue of “civilian protection, human dignity and fundamental rights”, adding that turning homes into places of fear and residential areas into battlefields threatened people’s right to life and protection.

“No political or military rationale can justify disregarding civilians’ lives and safety,” it said.

The BYC questioned how long ordinary people in Balochistan would have to live amid fear, violence and insecurity.

“The people of Balochistan are not military targets; they are human beings entitled to peace, protection and a dignified life.”

The committee demanded an end to attacks on civilian areas, justice for the injured and independent investigations to hold those responsible accountable.

‘Life in Mastung Has Become Hell’

The BYC also said two young men from Paringabad were critically injured in FC firing near Zakir Hotel on Mastung’s Singar Bypass on October 4, shortly before sunset.

In a separate statement, it identified the injured as Muhammad Ismail, son of Muhammad Azam, and Muhammad Zahir, son of Abdul Khaliq.

The committee said the Frontier Corps (FC) had closed Zakir Hotel about a month earlier and turned it into a checkpoint. It added that 12 shops, a block factory, a tile factory and other nearby businesses had also been closed, cutting off the livelihoods of dozens of families.

“For some time now, life in Mastung has become hell,” the BYC said. “Mutilated bodies have been dumped by the roadside, fruit orchards cut down, families displaced, drones have struck, and now open firing is killing and wounding Baloch people.”

It urged international organisations and human rights defenders to recognise what it described as the “Baloch genocide” by the Pakistani state and hold Pakistan accountable, warning that continued inaction would lead to further bloodshed.

Pakistani authorities had not publicly responded to the statements at the time of reporting.

Chagai: Customs Official Among Five Passengers Abducted After Bus Breaks Down

Armed men have allegedly abducted five passengers, including a Pakistan Customs official, after a passenger bus travelling from Quetta to Dalbandin broke down at Charsar in Balochistan’s Chagai district, sources said. The abducted customs official was identified as Mohammad Ibrahim Domki, a resident of Jaffarabad district, who was travelling on the bus to report for duty. According to sources, the armed men checked the passengers’ identity cards before taking Domki and four other passengers to an undisclosed location. Their whereabouts and current condition were not immediately known. No one had claimed responsibility for the incident at the time of writing, and there was no immediate official statement from the authorities confirming the abductions. The incident comes amid repeated reports of armed men stopping vehicles and targeting government personnel and commercial traffic along major highways in Balochistan.
