Residents of Quetta blocked Samungli Road in protest against high gas bills, saying excessive charges and incorrect meter readings had placed an additional financial burden on domestic consumers.
The protesters said an extraordinary increase in bills had caused severe difficulties for households, adding that people with limited incomes could not afford demands for thousands or even hundreds of thousands of rupees.
They called on Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and the relevant authorities to review the disputed bills transparently, remove unjustified additional charges and provide relief to consumers.
The protest disrupted traffic along Samungli Road, causing difficulties for commuters and other road users.
