Cases of enforced disappearances continue to be reported in Balochistan, with one man allegedly forcibly disappeared in Kech, while the family of another missing person held a press conference in Quetta demanding his recovery.
According to local sources, Abdullah, son of Billar and a resident of Sorak, Bilnagor in Kech district, was allegedly detained and forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces on Sunday. His whereabouts remain unknown.
Meanwhile, the protest camp organised by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) against enforced disappearances continued for the 6,365th day outside the Quetta Press Club under the leadership of the organisation’s chairman, Nasrullah Baloch.
During the camp, the family of Ghulam Haider Kurd addressed a press conference and expressed concern over his alleged enforced disappearance, calling for his immediate recovery.
According to the family, Ghulam Haider Kurd, son of Jumma Khan, was detained on 12 March 2026 by personnel of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and other agencies from Street No. 19 near Killi Pirkani on Quetta’s Eastern Bypass. They alleged that he was subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location and has remained missing since.
The family stated that they had repeatedly approached the relevant police station and senior authorities in an effort to obtain information regarding his whereabouts. However, they said they had neither been informed of the reasons for his detention nor provided with any information about his current status.
Speaking at the press conference, family members said Ghulam Haider’s mother, sister, brothers and other relatives were experiencing severe mental distress due to his disappearance and remained deeply concerned about his safety.
They urged the authorities to ensure his safe and immediate recovery. The family further stated that if any allegations existed against him, he should be produced before a court of law and granted the right to legal defence in accordance with due process.
The family also appealed to the media to highlight Ghulam Haider Kurd’s case and help raise awareness of his enforced disappearance.
Enforced disappearances remain a longstanding issue in Balochistan. Families, rights groups and political organisations have for years alleged that individuals are detained by Pakistani forces and intelligence agencies and subsequently held incommunicado, while authorities have denied involvement in many cases. Rights advocates also maintain that many cases go unreported for extended periods due to fear, pressure by the forces and other obstacles faced by affected families.
