Residents of Tarasani in the Zehri area of Khuzdar district have protested against the closure of the area’s only government girls’ primary school, alleging that it has remained effectively non-operational for the past year due to the absence of teaching staff.

According to local residents, the school building remains in place and students continue to arrive each morning carrying books and school bags. However, they said no teacher is available to conduct classes, leaving educational activities completely suspended.

Parents said it is not feasible for many families to send their daughters to schools in distant areas, resulting in dozens of girls being deprived of access to primary education. They alleged that teachers assigned to the school have remained absent for an extended period and that the Education Department has failed to take effective action regarding their reported absence.

Residents and parents further stated that while the government has announced measures aimed at improving education, girls in Tarasani continue to be denied access to basic schooling. They argued that the situation raises concerns about the effectiveness of the education system in the area.

The protesters called on the Balochistan Minister for Education, the Education Secretary and district education authorities in Khuzdar to take immediate notice of the school’s closure, ensure the attendance of assigned teachers and restore regular teaching activities.

Residents warned that if timely action is not taken, an entire generation of girls in the area could be deprived of educational opportunities.
