The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for a large-scale coordinated attack in Mashkel, Chagai district, alleging that more than 25 Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were killed and several military installations were targeted during the operation.

In a statement issued to the media, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said the operation began at approximately 3:30 p.m. on 29 August 2026 and involved multiple armed units carrying out simultaneous attacks across the town.

According to the group, armed fighters established checkpoints on roads leading into and out of Mashkel and conducted vehicle checks during the initial phase of the operation. The BLF claimed that one of its units took control of a customs station, detained personnel present at the site, set fire to the facility and seized a customs vehicle. The group said the detained officials were later released.

The BLF further alleged that when additional FC personnel attempted to advance towards the area, its fighters engaged them, resulting in four personnel being killed and two others injured.

The organisation also claimed that its members seized control of a police station, confiscated weapons and equipment, and set fire to the building along with official records. According to the statement, detained police personnel were later released.

The group said its fighters subsequently launched attacks on the main FC camp in Mashkel from multiple directions. The BLF claimed that two security posts near the camp’s main gate were destroyed using machine guns, rocket launchers and grenade launchers, resulting in the deaths of five FC personnel and injuries to several others.

The statement further alleged that additional attacks targeted FC positions elsewhere in the town, including near the Commissioner’s House, where the group claimed three more personnel were killed and four injured after Pakistani forces attempted to surround the attackers.

According to the BLF, its fighters later attacked the FC camp from a second direction, targeting barracks and residential quarters. The group claimed that six FC personnel were killed in that phase of the operation.

The organisation also alleged that its fighters shot down three quadcopters and one surveillance drone during the clashes.

In a separate incident, the BLF claimed that one of its units ambushed a convoy travelling from the Bazkohi camp towards Mashkel near the area of Ladgasht. According to the group, three personnel were killed and three others injured in the attack.

The BLF stated that all of its fighters withdrew safely from the area after completing the operation.

Pakistani authorities had not issued a detailed statement regarding the allegations at the time of publication, and no official casualty figures were immediately available.

Mashkel has witnessed periodic clashes and attacks in recent years amid the broader conflict between Pakistani forces and Baloch armed groups operating in different parts of Balochistan.
