Three people have allegedly been forcibly disappeared from Quetta and Awaran, while Shakir Baloch and his wife, Gul Banuk, who had previously been reported missing from Awaran, have been recovered. Meanwhile, families of Daad Mohammad Marri and Saleh Mohammad Marri, who have allegedly been forcibly disappeared for more than 13 years, have renewed their demand for their recovery.
According to sources, in Quetta, 16-year-old student Agha Gul, son of Saeed Ahmed Kiyazai, was allegedly taken from his home at approximately 4:00 p.m. on 21 August 2026. According to his family members, personnel from the Frontier Corps (FC) and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) were involved in his alleged disappearance.
In a separate case, 27-year-old Hafeezullah Baloch, son of Khairullah, a resident of Kechi Baig, Quetta, was allegedly forcibly disappeared from Shahwani Stadium, Quetta, at approximately 6:30 p.m. on 8 July 2026. According to the reports, personnel from Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and CTD were allegedly involved in his disappearance.
Meanwhile, in Awaran, 40-year-old farmer Rafiq Baloch, son of Bahauddin, and 34-year-old laborer Shakir Baloch, son of Abdullah, were allegedly detained by FC and military personnel from Kolwah at approximately 12:30 a.m. on 22 August 2026.
The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) said that Shakir Baloch and his wife, Gul Banuk, who had also been reported missing, were recovered from Awaran on 24 August 2026. The organization welcomed their recovery as a positive development.
However, VBMP said that Rafiq Baloch, who was allegedly disappeared along with Shakir, remains missing. The organization expressed hope that he would also be recovered soon and returned to his family.
Meanwhile, a protest camp organized by VBMP against enforced disappearances in Balochistan continued outside the Quetta Press Club for the 6,337th day.
During the protest, family members of Daad Mohammad Marri and Saleh Mohammad Marri participated and renewed their demands for their recovery.
Moria Marri said that Saleh Mohammad Marri and Daad Mohammad Marri were detained by Pakistani forces from the old bus terminal in Quetta on 23 March 2013 and subsequently forcibly disappeared.
She said their cases remained before the relevant commission for three years and that the families had repeatedly approached senior authorities and held peaceful protests seeking their recovery. However, neither man had been recovered, nor had their families received information about their whereabouts, leaving them in prolonged distress and suffering.
She appealed to the government and relevant authorities to ensure the immediate recovery of her loved ones.
VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch said enforced disappearances constitute unconstitutional actions and serious violations of citizens’ fundamental rights.
He called for an immediate end to enforced disappearances and said that anyone taken into custody should be presented before a magistrate within 24 hours. He also demanded the recovery of Daad Mohammad Marri, Saleh Mohammad Marri and all other missing persons.
Nasrullah Baloch further said that individuals facing allegations should be brought before the public and presented in court, where they should be given the right to pursue legal proceedings and defend themselves against any allegations.
