Two new cases of alleged enforced disappearance have been reported in Balochistan, where a minor student and another young man from Awaran are said to have been detained and subsequently disappeared from different areas of Hub.
According to reports, Muiz Jan, 15, son of Sabzal and a resident of Awaran, was allegedly taken into custody on 14 July 2026 at around 10pm from the Zehri Goth Daro Hotel area of Hub. Family members said they believe personnel of Pakistan’s Military Intelligence (MI) were involved in his detention. His whereabouts remain unknown.
In a separate incident, Saddam Hussain, 21, son of Nabi Bakhsh and a resident of Awaran who works as a shopkeeper, was reportedly detained on 17 July 2026 at approximately 1 am from the Mirabad area of Hub. His family alleged that personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC), the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Military Intelligence (MI) were involved in the incident. He has not been seen since.
Meanwhile, the long-running protest camp organised by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) outside the Quetta Press Club completed 6,300 days on Monday.
The camp has continued for more than seventeen years, calling for the recovery of forcibly disappeared persons, an end to alleged extrajudicial measures, and justice for affected families.
Speaking on the occasion, VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch said that enforced disappearances constitute a serious violation of Pakistan’s Constitution, domestic laws and international human rights principles. He urged the Pakistani government, judiciary, parliament and relevant institutions to prioritise cases of missing persons, ensure the recovery of all forcibly disappeared individuals and address the suffering endured by their families.
VBMP reiterated its commitment to continuing its campaign through peaceful and constitutional means until all forcibly disappeared persons are recovered and justice is delivered to affected families.
