A deadly assault and the temporary capture of police stations and key routes reportedly resulted in casualties in Mastung district of Balochistan on Monday.
According to the officials, four army personnel were killed during clashes with Baloch armed group in the Kardegap area of Mastung, while local sources suggested the death toll could be higher.
The deceased have been identified as Naik Farzand Ali, Sepoy Babar Ali, Sepoy Binyamin, and Sepoy Abu Bakar, all previously associated with the 40th Frontier Force (40 FF).
The situation in Mastung remains tense, with reports of blockades at multiple locations set up by armed groups earlier in the day. Pakistani forces were reportedly targeted in coordinated attacks, with several vehicles hit during the violence.
Local sources reported that a military convoy of 35 vehicles came under attack, triggering heavy exchanges of fire that lasted several hours. Helicopters were seen patrolling the area as security forces attempted to regain control.
Additional reports suggested that a police station was also temporarily seized and set ablaze, while strict movement restrictions and checkpoints have been imposed across the district.
No group has claimed responsibility for the assault. Authorities have urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel as the situation continues to develop.
