Two men from Balochistan have reportedly been forcibly disappeared in separate incidents in Karachi, according to family members and local sources.
In the most recent case, Asim, son of Asghar and a resident of Panwan in Jiwani, was reportedly taken into custody by personnel of the Pakistan Rangers during the night of 16 March. Family members said he was picked up at around midnight from the Shah Ali Sharafi Goth area of the city.
According to relatives, Asim, who works as a trader, has not been heard from since his detention, and no information has been provided regarding his whereabouts. His family has expressed concern and appealed for his safe recovery.
In a separate case, Shabbir Baloch, son of Haji Qadir Bakhsh and a resident of Zehri in Khuzdar District, was reportedly detained on 13 November last year from a nursing hostel in Karachi. Family members recently reported the case saying he has remained missing since his detention.
Families of the missing individuals state that they have not been informed of their locations, nor have they been produced before any court. They have called for their immediate recovery.
Cases of alleged enforced disappearances involving Baloch individuals have been reported for years in Balochistan as well as in parts of Karachi with significant Baloch populations. Human rights organisations and affected families have repeatedly raised concerns over such incidents.
Authorities have not issued an official statement regarding these specific cases.
