A young student, identified as Abid Baloch, son of Khalid Baloch and a resident of Jhaoo in Awaran district, has reportedly been subjected to enforced disappearance from the industrial town of Hub Chowki in Balochistan.
According to the human rights organisation Paank, the incident occurred on the morning of 27 March, when Abid was allegedly summoned by individuals described as belonging to Pakistani military intelligence agencies to present himself. The organisation stated that he complied with the summons and appeared before the authorities, but subsequently went missing and his whereabouts remain unknown.
Paank condemned the incident, describing it as a serious violation of human rights. The organisation further noted that Abid is a student who is undergoing treatment for a kidney condition and requires ongoing medical care, raising additional concerns about his health and well-being following his disappearance.
This is not the first reported incident involving Abid Baloch. According to Paank, he was previously subjected to enforced disappearance on 16 December 2022 while in Karachi for medical treatment related to his kidney condition. The current incident marks the second time he has reportedly gone missing under similar circumstances.
There has been no immediate official response from Pakistani authorities regarding the allegations.
