Residents in Balochistan’s Kech district blocked the CPEC highway on Thursday after a woman injured in alleged Federal Constabulary (FC) firing was denied treatment at a Karachi hospital, local sources said.
The woman, identified as Durdana, was shot on 8 December in the Balgatar Sahaky area, her family said. She had been preparing dinner when gunfire was heard nearby and a bullet struck her, they added.
Family members took her to the District Headquarters Hospital in Kech around midnight. Doctors referred her to Karachi because of limited facilities, the family said.
Relatives said the hospital in Karachi refused to admit her because no First Information Report (FIR) had been filed.
Following the refusal, residents blocked the CPEC road and staged a sit-in outside the FC camp in Sahaky, calling for immediate medical treatment and an inquiry into the shooting.
Protesters said they would continue the blockade until authorities take action.
