The body of Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Mohammad Yousuf Reki, who had been missing for several days, was found in Mastung district of Balochistan, officials confirmed on Wednesday.

According to police, Reki’s body was discovered in Kardegaap, near Gorgena Killi Sharbat Khan, bearing multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body. Levies official Ghulam Sarwar stated that the body appeared only a few hours old and had been shifted to Quetta for legal and medical formalities.

Reki, who was serving as SDPO Noshki, had gone missing five days earlier while travelling alone from Noshki to Surab between Saturday night and early Sunday morning. He was reportedly intercepted near Kardegaap, Mastung, by unidentified armed men who took him along with his vehicle.

Police investigations revealed that moments before his abduction, Reki called his wife and informed her that he had been stopped by armed individuals, after which contact was lost. His vehicle has not yet been recovered.

Authorities have not determined the motive behind the abduction and killing. A senior police official said investigations are under way to identify the perpetrators. Notably, a similar incident occurred last month when another SDPO from Mastung was abducted near Surab but later released after several days in captivity.

In a separate incident, nine labourers working for a construction company were abducted by armed men in Mastung on Wednesday evening.

According to Mastung police, the kidnapped workers, hailing from Punjab and Sindh, were employed on a government construction project when armed men surrounded the site and took them away to an undisclosed location. Following the incident, Pakistani troops launched a search operation in the area.

In another report, Dasht Levies confirmed that nine workers were abducted three days ago from Siah Pusht in Mastung while constructing security checkpoints. According to SHO Akhtar Muhammad, no formal complaint has yet been lodged, as the concerned contractor and authorities have not submitted a report.

Separately, in Mangochar, Kalat, armed men established a checkpoint on the main Quetta–Karachi highway, stopping vehicles and checking passengers. The blockade reportedly lasted for over an hour, during which gunfire and explosions were heard.

Officials have not yet attributed responsibility for either of the abductions, nor has any group claimed responsibility for the aforementioned incidents.
