Tensions flared in Balochistan’s Kech district following the alleged enforced disappearance of a young man, as protesters blocked a key segment of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route in response.
According to local sources, Pakistani security forces conducted a late-night raid on a residence in the Shahrak area of Kech on Sunday night. During the operation, a young man identified as Faraz Mayar was reportedly taken into custody and transferred to an undisclosed location. Witnesses claim the area was cordoned off before troops entered the home and detained Mayar without presenting any warrant or explanation.
In protest, family members and local residents staged a sit-in and blocked the CPEC highway, a major infrastructure artery in the region. As a result, long queues of vehicles were seen on both sides of the blockade, severely disrupting traffic flow.
The incident comes amid a spate of similar allegations across Balochistan. Just a day earlier, The Balochistan Post reported that at least eight individuals had been allegedly subjected to enforced disappearance by Pakistani security forces in different parts of Balochistan.
