Baloch “pro-independence” armed groups have claimed responsibility for a series of coordinated attacks targeting Pakistani security forces, check posts, telecommunications infrastructure, and law enforcement installations in various areas of Balochistan over the past several days.
The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), through its spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch, stated that on May 4, at approximately 6:00 PM, its fighters carried out a sniper attack on a Pakistani soldier stationed outside a military post in Kotan, Zamuran (Kech district), resulting in his death.
The following day, on May 5 at around 9:00 PM, BLF fighters launched another assault in Kharan city, targeting a security checkpoint on Gwash Road using rocket-propelled grenades and automatic weapons. According to the group, the attack inflicted “human and material losses” on the security personnel. The BLF claimed its fighters retreated safely using guerrilla warfare tactics, despite retaliatory fire from the security forces.
Also on May 5, at 6:30 PM, BLF fighters attacked and burned down a police outpost in Talar, Gwadar. The group alleged that the outpost was being used to extort money from local fuel traders. According to the BLF, weapons and other equipment were seized, but the police personnel — being ethnic Baloch — were released unharmed after being warned. The attackers reportedly ensured that civilian vehicles in the area were allowed to pass safely.
Later that night, a Zong mobile tower at Rekani Cross was set on fire, with BLF claiming the tower was used for surveillance by Pakistani forces. A firefight reportedly broke out shortly after the operation at Kalak, as the BLF militants encountered Pakistani troops. The group claimed to have inflicted additional casualties and damage during the exchange.

On May 6 at 2:00 PM, another sniper attack was conducted by BLF fighters at the same military post in Kotan, Zamuran, killing one soldier. The group reiterated its commitment to continuing its armed campaign until full independence for Balochistan is achieved.
Separately, the United Baloch Army (UBA) also claimed responsibility for destroying a telecommunications tower in Kohdach, Sorab district, on the night of May 5 at approximately 8:30 PM. UBA spokesperson Mazar Baloch stated that the tower’s equipment was completely destroyed and accused the site of being used by Pakistani forces for intelligence gathering on Baloch fighters.
Both BLF and UBA emphasized that their actions are part of an ongoing armed struggle against what they describe as an “occupying force” in Balochistan. They vowed to continue targeting all military, police, and intelligence-related infrastructure until the realization of what they call a “free Balochistan.”
