Baloch “pro-independence” groups launched multiple attacks across Balochistan in the past few days, targeting security forces and military installations, resulting in several casualties and significant damage.
In the district of Naseerabad, a major incident unfolded late at night, where armed individuals set up a checkpoint on the National Highway near Nautal. The armed individuals continued the blockade for over two hours, stopping vehicles and conducting snap checks. During this time, a police vehicle from the Nautal Police Station arrived, only to come under attack. Authorities confirmed that while no casualties were reported, the police vehicle suffered partial damage from the gunfire.
Witnesses indicated that the attackers, wearing Balochistan flags, were likely members of Baloch “pro-independence” groups, although no group has formally claimed responsibility for the attack. However, similar operations by Baloch “pro-independence” factions have occurred in the past, such as Baloch Raji Aajoi Sangar’s (BRAS) deadly attacks on the National Highway in Oramara in March, where six people were killed during a blockade, allegedly linked to Pakistani intelligence agencies.
In February of this year, during a blockade on the highway in Barkhan, seven individuals were killed after being identified by Baloch fighters.
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the operation. According to BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch, the operation was carried out based on intelligence gathered from its intelligence wing, Zirab. The fighters conducted a targeted operation in Barkhan, identifying and capturing seven key informants working for Pakistani intelligence agencies. These individuals, according to the BLA, had been involved in espionage and the alleged genocide of the Baloch people.
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) also claimed responsibility for a targeted attack on Pakistani forces. On April 15, the group executed a remote-controlled IED attack on a convoy of Pakistani forces in the Jaein Parom area of Panjgur, causing both casualties and significant material damage. The BLA spokesperson, Jeeyand Baloch, confirmed the attack and vowed to continue such operations as part of their ongoing struggle against Pakistani occupation.
In another development, the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG), another Baloch “pro-independence” group, took responsibility for an attack on a police vehicle in the town of Bhag, in Bolan district. The group used a grenade to strike the parked vehicle, inflicting casualties and damage. BRG’s spokesperson warned police forces to avoid collaborating with Pakistani military units in Balochistan, stating that such attacks would continue until Balochistan’s independence is achieved.
Additionally, the Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) also conducted a major attack on a Pakistani military checkpoint in the Zamuran area of Kech. According to BLF spokesperson, Major Gwahram Baloch, the attack occurred on the evening of April 15, when their fighters targeted the military post with heavy weapons, inflicting both casualties and material damage. In retaliation, Pakistani forces fired over 13 mortar shells and engaged in heavy gunfire. However, the BLF fighters managed to withdraw safely from the site. The BLF reaffirmed its commitment to targeting Pakistani forces and military installations until Balochistan gains independence.
