The Karachi-Quetta highway has remained blocked for over a day as protests continue against the alleged enforced disappearance of a 15-year-old boy in Khuzdar, Balochistan.

According to local sources, the teenager, Anas Ahmed, was forcibly taken from the Guzgi area by military personnel. His family and local residents have staged a sit-in, demanding information on his whereabouts and his immediate release. The blockade has disrupted traffic between Karachi and Quetta.

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) expressed its support for the protest, urging people to gather at Shahsawar Chowk (Ghora Chowk) in solidarity with Anas’s family.

Baloch leader Dr. Mahrang Baloch condemned the alleged abduction, calling it an act of “state violence.”

“15-year-old Anas Ahmed has been abducted from Khuzdar—beaten and taken away by security forces,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“This struggle against enforced disappearances is not just for affected families; it is a collective struggle for Baloch national survival. We must restore our humanity from the colonizers who have seized it through violence and oppression. Their cruelty spares no one, not even our children.”

Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ), a human rights advocacy group, condemned the incident, calling it a “grave violation of basic rights” and Pakistan’s constitutional protections.

In a statement, BVJ emphasized that Anas’s disappearance violates Article 10 of the Pakistani Constitution, which prohibits arbitrary detention.

“The Constitution mandates that no individual shall be arrested or detained without being informed of the reasons for their detention,” BVJ said. “Anas’s case appears to disregard this fundamental protection.”

The organization called on Pakistani authorities to clarify his whereabouts and ensure his immediate and safe release.

“His family deserves answers, and the justice system must hold those responsible for this illegal act accountable,” the statement added.
